What is the Alexander Technique?
We are constantly reacting to the world around us and the stresses and strains of modern life. We tend to lose our natural balance and poise early on in childhood, which in turn, makes way to excessive tension and effort in both our thoughts and movements. This also affects our breathing, circulation and digestion, as well as our mental and emotional state.
This tension and misuse becomes such an ingrained habit that we don't realise the true impact that it is having on our functioning in everyday life, until things start to go wrong. Our bodies give warning signs by developing aches and pains, which can lead to more serious issues.
The Alexander Technique teaches us to have a more conscious control over the way we think and move, whether in simple daily activities like walking, or in more specialised skills like playing a musical instrument.
